Auburn Makes Big Impression On Athletic DB

Jeremiah Dinson talks about his official visit to Auburn and what stands out about the Tigers.

Hialeah, Fla.--Entering his Auburn official visit athletic defensive back Jeremiah Dinson was committed to the Kentucky Wildcats. Following his trip to the Plains the 5-11, 176 cover corner said that’s not the case any longer and he has a new leader.

“It was my first time there,” Dinson said. “The experience was good. I fell in love with the players and coaches, especially Coach (Gus) Malzahn’s house. That was one of the great experiences I had up there.

“I’m really considering them,” he added of Auburn. “Right now Auburn is in front. It just feels like home. I just feel like that’s the best choice for me. I really like Auburn.”

One of the biggest reasons why Dinson is so high on the Tigers is because of his relationship with Coach Travaris Robinson. Building a strong relationship over the course of the last two years, Dinson said having T Rob back at Auburn is a big plus for them in his recruitment.

“He’s telling me that we can play right away,” Dinson said. “Auburn is a great fit for me. T Rob is a Miami guy and I’m a Miami guy myself. Our connection is real close.

“That’s really big for me because I can really relate to him,” he added of Robinson. “He’s like an uncle. He’s a Miami guy and I’m a Miami guy. I really like T Rob.”

That opportunity to play early is also important to Dinson. With Auburn looking high and low for true cover guys in the secondary that can play Will Muschamp’s aggressive style of defense, he said for him it’s the perfect opportunity.

“That’s really important, coming in as a freshman and getting playing time,” Dinson said. “A lot of people can’t say they do that. I’m really looking forward to the opportunity.

“That’s my style,” he added of Auburn’s scheme. “That’s what I did in high school, a lot of bump-and-run and a lot of bail-man. That’s what they run. I would fit right into the system.”

Dinson’s recruiting could come to a head on Monday when Malzahn makes his in-home visit. Saying he could make a decision sometime this week with Florida and Kentucky his other favorites, the defensive back said he’s looking forward to spending more time with the head coach.

“They’re telling me to take my time,” Dinson said. “He’s just going to come in tomorrow and meet the family and everything.”

As a senior at American Senior High Dinson had four interceptions and also added a pair of kickoff returns for touchdowns. On offense had four touchdown catches.
