4-Star Lineman Changes Announcement Plans

Four-star offensive tackle Chidi Valentine-Okeke planned to announce his college choice on TV, but has delayed the decision.

Stockbridge, Ga.--With just over a week left until National Signing Day, four-star offensive tackle Chidi Valentine-Okeke said he was ready to end his recruitment by announcing his commitment Monday night on Next Class on FOXSportsSouth at 10 p.m. Eastern/9 p.m. central. However, on Monday evening the Scout.com four-star recruit changed his mind and decided he is not ready to make his pick.

After taking official visits to Auburn, Alabama, Georgia and LSU, the 6-6, 305-pounder is expected to choose between Gus Malzahn’s Auburn Tigers, the Crimson Tide and the Bayou Bengals.

"I wanted to commit today, but I changed my this afternoon," said the lineman, who noted that his new plan is to announce his choice on Monday, two days prior to national signing day.

"These three schools that I am looking at, they are all great schools," he said. "They all have good academics and good football programs."

A visitor to Auburn for one of the Tigers’ summer camps, Valentine-Okeke earned an offer from Malzahn and offensive line coach J.B. Grimes while he was still considered a 2016 prospect. Things changed in a big hurry for the prospect late last fall when he was re-classified for the class of 2015. That put his recruiting into high gear with attention from all over the country coming for the Faith Academy North standout.

Valentine-Okeke will be a guest on the show with Scout.com recruiting analyst Chad Simmons to discuss recruiting.
