"First and foremost I just want to thank everybody in my family, my high school coaches and the college coaches that gave me the opportunity," Holland said. "The next three or four years I will be choosing to play football at Auburn University."
Even though he remained uncommitted all the way until signing day, Holland was thought to be a heavy lean to the Tigers for much of the last month. Much of the reason for that was the addition of Will Muschamp as Auburn’s defensive coordinator. A coach he had a strong relationship with throughout the process, Muschamp being on the Plains was a huge boost for Holland, but it wasn't the only thing.
"I have been liking Auburn," Holland said. "My uncle (Carey Holland) played for Auburn. It's a family thing down there. When Coach Muschamp and T Rob (Travaris Robinson) went back to Auburn that was a big deal right there. I have been loving Auburn. That just put the icing on the cake.
"It's just the school for me," he added. "I love the atmosphere and the environment. I'm from a small town and Auburn is a small town with all of the people around there. My family loves it up there. I guess it's the school and the coaches for me."
At 6-2, 230, Holland is the type of player that could make an impact in several different areas for the Tigers down the road. One of those areas is at linebacker. Athletic enough to play sideline to sideline, Holland has a nose for the ball and should be a presence between the tackles against the run. Another area he could make an impact is rushing the passer. Physical enough to come off the edge and get to the quarterback, Holland will team with another versatile player Darrell Williams to give the Tigers a unique pair of linebackers on the same defense.
Holland is a two-way star at running back and linebacker. He’s an aggressive and physical downhill player that can go sideline to sideline and play inside out. He can take on blocks and fill the hole. Holland is a big hitter and not afraid of contact. As a pass rusher, he has the size, speed and athleticism to dominate the edge. He shows deceptive agility and quickness. Jamie Newberg
