“It’s great,” Ignont said of the offer. “I grew up an Auburn fan. This is, I wouldn’t say a dream, but more like a goal. I was blessed and extremely happy when Coach Muschamp told me I had an offer to play football there.
“It’s big,” he added. “I just like the whole family atmosphere and how Gus Malzahn had his wife sitting in the office with him, I loved that. It was just big to finally meet him one-on-one and meet Coach Muschamp for the first time.”
A talented linebacker that saw much of his playing time as a running back for the Bucks as a sophomore, Ignont ran for 1,046 yards and scored 15 touchdowns in 2014. While he’s not sure where is future lies as far as a position, he said that’s not really a concern for him because he’s comfortable on either side of the ball.
Already very familiar with the Auburn campus, Ignont said for him it was great to get back and see everything once again. While it wasn’t the wild scene that is present for a gameday at Jordan-Hare Stadium, he added that it didn’t take away from the experience.
“I came to the Texas A&M game last year and also to a camp last summer,” Ignont noted. “This was my third time down there. I just really enjoyed it. I love the whole atmosphere.”
Already with offers from Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Troy and UNC-Charlotte, Ignont is on the fast track to be one of the top prospects in the country for 2017. Rated a four-star at 6-2, 232, he said while he has some big names on the board early he’s just taking his time with the whole process.
“I love LSU, but they are right up there with LSU,” Ignont said of Auburn. “I really love LSU, Auburn and Ole Miss right now.”
