Known as "Tank" for obvious reasons, he learned of the offer from his coaches on Tuesday following a visit to the school by Auburn assistant coach Lance Thompson. Saying he likes the Tigers, Jenkins said right now he’s not anywhere close to naming any leaders, but following his recent visit it’s safe to say that Auburn will be in the mix.
“It was good down there,” Jenkins said. “I really liked it. It was my first visit and they had a good spring game. I also met some great players. I really liked it down there, it was a good experience.”
Jenkins already is the size of a large college tackle and is just in the ninth grade
One of the best parts of the day for Jenkins on his visit was getting to meet Auburn offensive line Coach J.B. Grimes. A veteran who has coached a whole lot of good players in his time, Grimes’ no-nonsense approach really stuck out to Jenkins and he is looking forward to getting to work with him soon.
“He’s a good guy,” Jenkins said of Grimes. “He wants me to come down this summer so he can work with me. I’m going to do that. They like my size since I’m just in the ninth grade so there will be time to work on stuff.”
