Lions Select Auburn's Gabe Wright

Gabe Wright was the third Auburn player taken in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Defensive tackle Gabe Wright was selected on Saturday in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions.

The No. 113 overall pick in the 2015 draft, he is the third Auburn player selected behind third round pick Sammie Coates, who went to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and defensive lineman Angelo Blackson, who was taken by the Tennessee Titans.

Wright, who is from Columbus, Ga., measured in at 6-3, 296 pounds at Auburn’s pro day in March.

As a senior he made 10 solo tackles with 14 assists. He was credited with 4 1/2 tackles for lost yardage, one sack and 10 quarterback hurries. Wright served as captain of the AU defense during the 2014 season.

Wright started three games as a true freshman in 2011 and made six solo tackles with six assists. He was credited with one sack and three QB hurries that year.

In 2012 he played in 12 games and started six times. Wright made 12 solo tackles with seven assists. He had 4 1/2 tackles for lost yardage, one sack and six QB pressures.

In 2013 he played in 14 games for the SEC champions with 11 starts. Wright had his most productive season with 16 solo tackles, 15 assists, 8 1/2 tackles for lost yardage, three sacks and nine quarterback hurries.
