Purchase Checking Out Of Pearl's Program

Basketball forward Jack Purchase will not return to the team for his sophomore season.

Auburn, Ala.--Jack Purchase, who saw very limited playing time as a freshman on the Auburn basketball team this past season, is leaving the team and plans to transfer to another college.

A six-foot-eight forward from Melbourne, Australia, Purchase played in seven games for Coach Bruce Pearl’s team and averaged 1.3 points and 1.1 rebounds.

Purchase averaged 21.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game as a high school senior in Australia. That drew the attention of Tony Barbee and the former AU coaching staff, who signed Purchase to play for the Tigers.

Purchase joins Matthew Attewe, Benas Griciunas, Dion Wade and Alex Thompson as players recruited by Barbee who are no longer on the Auburn team. Thompson joined the team as an invited walk-on and was put on scholarship during his freshman season.

Auburn is adding a forward to its roster with 6-9, 233 Tyler Harris joining the team as a graduate student transfer from Providence College. Harris is scheduled to begin classes at Auburn this week and will have one season of eligibility. Harris averaged 9.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist in 26.7 minutes per game while hitting 42.1 percent of his field goals, 22-77 threes and 80-109 free throws last season.
