Talented 2017 Athlete One To Watch

Detravion Bishop is a playmaker on offense as a quarterback, but the 2017 athlete may be better suited for wide receiver after showing out Sunday at Auburn.

Dawson, Ga.--Detravion Bishop is not a name many recruiting fans in the Southeast know yet, but that won’t be the case for much longer for the 2017 athlete after the performance he put on recently at Auburn’s first prospect camp of the summer. Coming into the day as a quarterback, the 6-3, 185-pounder ran a 40-yard dash time in the 4.5 range and quickly became a player the Tigers wanted to see outside at wide receiver as well.

Getting to work with Rhett Lashlee and the first group of quarterbacks for much of the day, Bishop also worked with Dameyune Craig at wide receiver and got plenty of attention from Gus Malzahn as well, making for a fun day for the young up-and-coming talent.

“It was good,” Bishop said. “I enjoyed the camp. I learned a lot of new techniques for quarterback and overall I enjoyed it. I also got to play wide receiver as well. It was a fun experience, I could get used to it.

“I like the coaching staff and how they push you,” he added about Auburn. “They push you so you can get better and also better your team.”

Hearing from Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and others in addition to Auburn, Bishop said he’s just taking it slow with the recruiting process, but definitely wants to get back to get another look at the Tigers this summer.

“I have to keep my head on straight,” Bishop said. “They (Auburn) said they are recruiting me as an athlete. They want to get me back to tour the campus.”
