Auburn, Ala.--Linebacker Tre Williams heads into his sophomore year locked in a battle for a starting role at linebacker along with seniors Cassanova McKinzy, Kris Frost and Justin Garrett. Now bigger and stronger, the Mobile native is hoping to have a strong fall camp as he tries to increase his role in Auburn's defense under first year coordinator Will Muschamp.
One of things the added weight has done for Williams is make him more physical, an important trait this preseason as the Tigers have already added more of that to practices under Muschamp's guidance.
"It's 10 times more physical," Williams said. "I like it because we have to be physical in this league. Last year we kind of lacked at that, and that's what made us weak. But this year we're going to be much stronger. Coach Muschamp preaches toughness every day and he's trying to make us tough. It doesn't matter what he says or what he does, we have to listen."
