Auburn, Ala.--Auburn senior cornerback Jonathan Jones is coming back from an injury that hampered him late in the 2014 season. Now healthy in the preseason Jones is a player the Tigers are depending on to be one of the leaders in the secondary for Will Muschamp.
Jones and the rest of the group on the back end of the defense will be dependent on improved play out of the front four like they got in Monday's scrimmage. Led by end Carl Lawson and guys like Davonte Lambert, Maurice Swain, Montravius Adams and others, the defensive line has shown signs of being much better and Jones said that's huge.
“Carl is a leader," Jones said. "Even with him back, not just his individual play but as a leader. He pulls out the best in a lot of the other guys. They have depth. They have a lot of guys from him, Lambert, guys who played before, bringing along—Swain coming in, Montravius, they just have depth. They’re all good and they all bring that energy. I don’t think anyone in the country can stop them.”
