No Respect For Auburn On Coaches All-SEC Team

Auburn had just one player selected to the first-team of the Coaches All-SEC teams on Tuesday.

Birmingham, Ala.--The Auburn Tigers are getting plenty of respect as a team from around the country in various preseason polls, but apparently the SEC coaches don’t feel the same way about Auburn’s personnel as all-star candidates. Tuesday the league announced the 2015 Preseason Coaches All-SEC team and Jonathan Jones was the lone Auburn representative on the first team.

That comes as no surprise following a huge junior season for Jones when he finished with 36 tackles and tied for the team lead with six interceptions.

Voted to the second-team on offense was senior wide receiver Duke Williams while junior defensive lineman Montravius Adams earned second-team honors on the defensive side of the ball. A season ago Williams led Auburn with 45 receptions for 730 yards and five touchdowns while Adams added 43 tackles, three sacks and eight tackles for a loss along with one interception.

The third-team was loaded with Auburn players with Alex Kozan and Devonte Danzey both selected although they are fighting for the same position at left guard. In addition junior quarterback Jeremy Johnson was picked as a third-team selection on offense.

Defensively, Auburn had three players on the third-team with defensive end Carl Lawson, linebacker Cassanova McKinzy and safety Johnathan Ford picked on the last defense.

Alabama and LSU each placed 10 players on the team to lead the way, just ahead of Auburn’s nine selections. Of the 20 total players picked from the Crimson Tide and Bengal Tigers 16 were on the first two teams.
