Playing with the Georgia Stars the point guard was so impressive that he was bumped from three to four stars by Scout.com,
Last weekend Harper was on the Auburn campus to spend time with Coach Bruce Pearl and his staff at a recruiting event that featured other highly-regarded prospects.
“It was a great experience being with the other Auburn recruits, touring campus and trying on uniforms, seeing yourself in the uniform,” Harper said.
The point guard also did some recruiting while on the visit. “I told them it was a good situation at Auburn for everybody,” Harper said. “We are part of the rebuilding process and we are trying to become one of the top teams in the SEC.”
In addition to playing basketball on the trip to Auburn, the prospects got to tour the campus and get some insight about college life. “It was a chance to see what you are going to be a part of at Auburn,” Harper said. “It is really special. It is not like any other school.”
“We are recruiting Udoku (Udoka Azubuike), who played on my team, the Georgia Stars,” Harper said. Azubuike is a 6-10, 275 senior at Potter’s House Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Fla., who is rated as a four-star center.
“We are good friends and I talked to Udoka about coming to Auburn,” Harper said. “He is coming to visit in a couple of weeks. We are hoping to get a commitment from him.”
We are also recruiting Bam (five star center Edrice Adebayo), who played on the adidas circuit with Team Loaded,” Harper said.
Harper, who was named the MVP of the prestigious Peach Jam event this summer, said it was a fun summer on the AAU circuit.
“The Peach Jam was a great experience and it was just great to win it all with a lot of great teams there,”?he said..” We all gelled and played well together.
“We ended it with a tournament in Vegas where we finished 8-0 and we went undefeated in the month of July and finished No. 1 in the country,” he added.
