Lawrenceville, Ga.-The Auburn Tigers kicked off the 2015 footballseason with a win over the Louisville Cardinals in the Georgia Dome and several top recruits were on hand to see Gus Malzahn’s team in action. Among those was four-star offensive tackle E.J. Price.
A big-time offensive line prospect who has Auburn among his top group of schools, Price watched as Auburn held off a stubborn Louisville team 31-24. He was able to keep a close eye on the Tigers’ offense and Price said he saw some good things out of the team in the victory.
“It was an awesome experience,” Price said. “The coaches weren’t able to talk to us, we just checked in and got our tickets. We sat with other recruits like Derrick Brown, Antwuan Jackson and I went with Jamyest Williams.
“It was awesome just being able to be there and hang out with some of the recruits," he pointed out. "We were so close to the field and had some of the best seats in the house. It was definitely a great experience.
“The offensive line did a good job of protecting the quarterback. It was definitely impressive. Louisville started clawing back in at the end, but I feel like Auburn is definitely going to get better this year. They didn’t look too bad Saturday.”
Price will continue his look at college programs this weekend with a trip to the Big 10 when he takes an official visit to Michigan State this coming weekend to see the Spartans take on Oregon. Price said he also plans to take official visits to Oklahoma and possibly LSU and USC as well. As for Auburn the big tackle said that’s a visit he’s definitely considering, but there’s no question the Tigers are definitely in the hunt for him.
“It’s just the stability,” Price said of what he likes about Auburn. “Coach J.B. Grimes has been there a while and Coach Malzahn makes sure to let you know that Auburn is his dream job. He loves it. He lets me know that Coach Grimes is his guy so he’s going to be there for a while.
“In a lot of staffs coaching changes can take place, but they definitely seem like they have some stability there. It’s also just the atmosphere when I’m at Auburn. It’s always a great experience when I got over there.
“They have been one of my leaders since the beginning of my recruiting process. I didn’t get over there to visit as much as I liked, but there is something about the atmosphere over there, I love it.”
