Class of 2017 basketball prospect Lance Thomas talks about Bruce Pearl's camp and recruiting.

Lance Thomas, a six-foot-nine hoops prospect, performed well at Auburn's elite basketball camp.

Norcross, Ga.--A class of 2017 prospect who was one of the standout performers at Auburn's final basketball camp of the summer, Lance Thomas , said he enjoyed the experience.

A six-foot-nine, 205-pound small forward from Norcross High School, Thomas said Coach Bruce Pearl’s Elite Camp was worth attending.

“I didn’t really expect all those good players to be there,” Thomas said. “There was really good competition. When we got on the court everybody came to play hard.”

Thomas was placed on a team coached by current Auburn point guard Kareem Canty. Although his squad didn’t win much, Thomas noted he was proud of his individual showing.

“I was exposing a lot of really slow (players) trying to guard me on the wing,” Thomas said. “A lot of smaller guards couldn’t guard me on the wing either. It was pretty good. It was a real good day.”

Thomas said he has received scholarship offers from Western Kentucky, North Florida, Florida International, Kennesaw State and College of Charleston. Georgia, Wake Forest and Vanderbilt have also shown interest.

An offer from Auburn would change Thomas’s recruitment drastically, however. “That would be real good,” he said. “It would be my first major offer. For one, the school has a good tradition. SEC basketball is really good and really fun.”

Thomas did seem to have gained an interest in Auburn after the camp. When asked about a return trip to the Plains, Thomas eagerly replied, “Whenever Coach (Pearl) calls me back to come, I’ll come.”
