Mableton, Ga.--Four-star point guard Jared Harper is known for being very good at dishing out assists on a basketball court.
This weekend, while on his official visit, he tried to give Bruce Pearl and his staff an assist in helping the Auburn coaches recruit five-star center prospect Edrice “Bam” Adebayo.
“I know he likes Auburn, but I?know he wants to visit Kentucky just to see what they have for him,” said Harper, who is coming off an outstanding offseason on the AAU circuit playing for the Georgia Stars. “I?know we are pretty close to him.”
Harper said he has a relationship with Adebayo from having played with him and against him in AAU basketball events and at camps, including the Top 100 camp during which they were teammates.
“I am going to be texting him throughout the week and see where his mind is at after letting him get home and think about his visit overall and see if he can see himself here,” Harper said.
Adebayo, a six-foot-nine center, was in Auburn for an unofficial visit while Harper and five-star AU commitment Mustapha Heron were on official visits.
“The visit was a great experience,” Harper said. “Me and Mustapha are excited to be going to Auburn.”
“We went out with the team Friday night and Saturday night and enjoyed the whole experience of Auburn,” said Harper, who made the visit with his parents and his younger brother.
“We all enjoyed our time at Auburn and we are ready to be there,” he said. “We should make a big run our freshman year and we also have Austin (five-star center Austin Wiley) coming in for 2017.”
