Auburn Will Have A Big Recruiting Weekend As The Tigers Take On Georgia

Auburn is expected to have another big recruiting weekend as the Tigers take on the Georgia Bulldogs.

Auburn, Ala.--Gus Malzahn's Auburn Tigers take on Georgia this weekend in one of college football's biggest rivalries, making it another big recruiting weekend on the Plains with three expected official visitors and dozens of unofficial visitors expected at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday.

One of the top linebackers on Auburn’s board, athletic Devin Bush Jr. is rated as the No. 13 player at his position in the country and has a strong bond with coaches Will Muschamp and Travaris Robinson. A frequent visitor to the Plains over the spring and summer, the 6-0, 215 Bush is expected to be on campus this weekend for his official visit to Auburn. That’s big news with his father’s alma mater Florida State and Michigan considered the two teams to beat heading into the weekend.

A player that committed to Tennessee over the summer out of Dodge City (Kan.) Community College, 6-5 wide receiver Jeff George is a player the Tigers have been talking to for some time and he’s scheduled to be on campus this weekend for an official visit. With two senior receivers gone after this year and needing help immediately, George is a player that can deliver in that role.In 11 games this season George had 45 catches for 659 yards and five touchdowns and was named second-team All Jayhawk Conference. His biggest game came in a loss to Iowa Western in September when he had nine receptions for 190 yards and one score.

Rounding out the list of expected official visitors for Auburn this weekend is longtime commitment Daquan Newkirk out of The First Academy in Orlando, Fla. At 6-3, 252, Newkirk is expected to play the “Buck” position in Auburn’s defense or be a true defensive end. With excellent speed and burst off the ball, he should be a good fit in Muschamp’s scheme. Playing running back this season he has 744 yards and 11 touchdowns on just 57 carries.

Other potential visitors this weekend include:

Jake Bentley--One of the top 2017 quarterbacks in the country, the Opelika. Ala. native is having a huge junior season for the undefeated Bulldogs.

Detravion Bishop--Perhaps the top junior athlete in the Georgia, Bishop has Auburn at the top of his list along with Florida State, Georgia and others. He was on campus for the Ole Miss game recently.

John Broussard--The cornerback commitment is a player Auburn will be counting on to play early next season out of Central-Phenix City.

Derrick Brown--One of the top players on Auburn’s board regardless of position, the five-star defensive tackle will be making his fourth visit for an Auburn game this season.

Marlon Character--Auburn’s most recent commitment, Character is a four-star safety that flipped from South Carolina. He’s a player that should be in the mix for early playing time for the Tigers.

Tyler Clark--Another in a big group of defensive linemen looking at Auburn, Clark is a four-star defensive tackle committed to Georgia, but has visited the Tigers several times in the last year.

Malik Cunningham--Projected to be one of the top athletes in Alabama for the 2017 class, Cunningham plays quarterback at Park Crossing in Montgomery. Already with several big offers including Georgia, he could play offense or defense on the next level.

Marlon Davidson--Committed to Auburn, the four-star defensive lineman is one of the keys for the class for the Tigers. An early graduate, the Greenville star has been to every home game for the Tigers this season.

Carlito Gonzalez--The four-star safety and 2017 prospect committed to Auburn over the summer and is a key cog on a defense that has allowed just 34 points in the last eight games heading into the playoffs.

Mecole Hardman--Perhaps the most dynamic player in the country this year, the five-star Hardman is capable of playing wide receiver or defensive back on the next level. Auburn and Georgia are two of the teams on his list along with Alabama, Michigan and Tennessee.

Will Ignont--Already a four-star linebacker in the 2017 class, Ignont is high on the Tigers but is also looking at Georgia, LSU and others early in the process.

Will Ignont is a top player in Alabama for 2017

Tashawn Manning--A physical defensive line commitment for the Tigers, Manning is solidly committed and could be a player that winds up moving inside on the next level.

David Marshall--Very similar to Manning in that he has the physical size to be an inside player, Marshall is also an Auburn commitment but could make more of a push for early playing time.

E.J. Price--With Auburn’s need for a true offensive tackle in this class Price could be a player to watch, but Georgia is still considered the team to beat for the Archer (Ga.) standout.

B.J. Sharpe--A standout as a junior at Southwest High in Macon, Ga., the 6-5, 250 defensive end has Auburn and Georgia as two of his favorite schools early in the recruiting process.

Aubrey Solomon--One of the top defensive tackles in the nation for the 2017 class, the four-star Solomon has offers from Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and others already.

Alaric Williams--The 2017 commitment is one of the top athletes in Alabama for next year’s class out of Southside-Gadsden.

Jaymest Williams--Quite possibly the top athlete in the entire country for next year, Williams plays running back for Archer (Ga.) High, but would likely be a defensive back or wide receiver on the next level.
