Pembroke Pines, Fla.--One of the top linebackers on Auburn’s board, Devin Bush Jr. took an official visit to check out the Tigers over the weekend along with his mother and father. Spending one-on-one time with Coach Gus Malzahn and also quality time with Will Muschamp and Travaris Robinson, Bush said for him it was another good trip to the Plains.
“It went well like all the rest of the times,” Bush said. “I was just touching up on some stuff with Coach ‘Champ and Coach T Rob, specifically talking about my opportunity there and the chance to play for a great program.
“He’s a huge benefit to me,” he added. “Mainly his resume speaks for itself being a defensive guy, developing about 12 first rounders. That speaks for itself.”
Being recruited to play any of the three linebacker positions in Auburn’s defense, Bush said the opportunity to play early is one of the things the coaching staff has stressed to him throughout the recruiting process with Cassanova McKinzy, Kris Frost and Justin Garrett all seniors this year
“They feel like I can come in and make a huge impact right off the bat,” Bush said.
Familiar with several of the young defensive players on Auburn’s team, Bush said one of the biggest parts of the visit for him was getting to spend time with the guys away from football to talk about what life is like in the program.
“The highlight was being able to talk to players like Carlton Davis,” Bush said. “They were telling me the real things about coming in and trying to play early and playing for the staff and Coach Muschamp and what he expects.”
Getting ready to visit Michigan in two weeks and having already visited Florida State, Bush said for him it’s a three-team race as he prepares to make a decision sometime in December.
“They are in the mix with all three,” Bush said of Auburn. “Some schools jump ahead and some don’t. Auburn is up there.
“It’s like a three-way tie right now.”
