Big Man Alex Reese Discusses Auburn's "Real Big" Win Over Kentucky And The Improvement In The Program

Big Alex Reese talks about being on hand for Auburn's big win over Kentucky and what he likes about the Tigers.

Pelham, Ala.--One of the state of Alabama’s top basketball prospects for the 2017 class, big forward Alex Reese has been a frequent visitor to Auburn for camps and games the last year. Over the weekend he was at Auburn Arena for Coach Bruce Pearl’s biggest win yet with the Tigers as they knocked off 14th-ranked Kentucky.

Enjoying the game along with other top prospects in the 2017 class including Austin Wiley and Garrison Brooks, Reese said it was a great atmosphere and seeing Auburn get a win over the Wildcats was important.

“It was a good game,” Reese said. “It was like my second or third game down there. For them to get a big against Kentucky, that’s real big.”

The atmosphere at Auburn Arena has improved and given the Tigers a homecourt edge since Pearl’s arrival. Saturday was probably the pinnacle of that with the crowd going crazy throughout the big victory. Reese said that was an experience he’s never had at an Auburn game before.

“No sir I haven’t,” Reese said. “Not here. That means a lot because it shows you the fans are behind the team. That means a lot to me.”

As for Wiley, Reese said his good friend is trying to convince him join Wiley on the Plains.

“He’s really trying to get me to commit there,” Reese said of Wiley. “It’s something I have thought about. That would be fun.”

Saying that having Chuck Person on campus and part of the program as associate head coach is another big part of things for him. Reese said in the end it’s about relationships for him and that’s something Auburn has going for it at the moment.

“They are playing really good recently,” Reese said. “The times I have seen them play they are playing really good. The coaches and players are real cool and down to earth.”
