Griffin, Ga.--Long-time Auburn offensive line commitment Brodarious Hamm took his official visit to check out the Tigers over the weekend with the intention of learning more about his future position coach, newly hired Herb Hand. Spending time with Hand and Gus Malzahn was high on his list of priorities and Hamm said everything about the trip went well.
“It was pretty cool,” Hamm said of his visit. “I got to meet the new offensive line coach, Coach Hand. I really kind of got to know the coach. That was one of my biggest things about going over there and see what he was talking about. The trip was nice.”
Known as a players’ coach who has the reputation of being a strong recruiter, Hand has done a good job at stops such as Tulsa, Vanderbilt and Penn State. That’s something that is exciting, said Hamm, who noted that after talking with him he understands why.
“He seems like he cares about his players,” Hamm said. “He’s more than a coach, he tries to be a father figure to his players. He has a relationship with you on the field and off the field. He seems like a good coach and I’ve heard a lot about him.
“We sat in the office and talked to him,” he added. “He just explained to me about him and Coach Malzahn coached together at Tulsa. There’s just something about Coach Hand. I like him.”
Even though Georgia and Florida have put on the pressure in recent weeks for the athletic offensive lineman, Hamm said he’s done with recruiting and solidly an Auburn Tiger.
“I’m firmly committed to Auburn,” Hamm said. “I’m not taking any other visits.”
