"Lincoln is still a part of this basketball team and will have an opportunity to rejoin the team at the appropriate time," Ellis said. "Academics will always be the first priority with our basketball team."
A junior college transfer from Lincoln Trail College in Illinois, the South Bend, Ind., native played in all 32 games last season. He averaged 7.2 points and 2.3 assists while shooting 34 percent from the field, 32 percent from three-point range and 89 percent from the foul line. He was expected to take the starting role vacated by Jamison Brewer, who entered the NBA draft.
The Tigers start practice Oct. 13 and open the regular season at home against High Point University from High Point, N.C., Nov. 16, the night before the Auburn-Alabama football game.
