4-Star Safety Marlon Character Made It Official On Wednesday, Signing With The Auburn Tigers

Auburn added a talented piece to its secondary on Wednesday with the addition of Marlon Character.

Atlanta, Ga.--Originally committed to South Carolina before flipping to Auburn, four-star safety Marlon Character reaffirmed his decision to join Gus Malzahn's program following back-to-back visits to the Plains the last two weekends.

The initial draw to Auburn for Character was former coaches such as Will Muschamp (defensive coordinator) and Travaris Robinson (defensive backs coach). Nevertheless, by the time Muschamp and Robinson left the Plains for the Gamecocks the Grady High School four-star had fallen in love with a the campus and family atmosphere in Auburn.

“It was a lot of back and forth going on as far as recruiting standpoint as far as the coaches, but it’s pretty solid,” Character said of his decision. “It’s 100 percent. They said they were glad they don’t have to worry about me anymore and that I was good to go."
A player capable of playing safety and even walking up as a nickel defensive back, Character should help out early in Auburn's secondary because of his versatility and ability to cover in space.
