Crestview, Fla.--A player that committed to the Auburn Tigers over Mississippi State and several other programs in July and never looked back, physical wide receiver Marquis McClain made it official on Wednesday when he signed on the dotted line with Gus Malzahn’s program.
At 6-2 and around 210 pounds, McClain is a powerful wide receiver that excels in going over the middle but also has the speed to stretch a defense vertically with his 4.43 speed in the 40-yard dash. Throw in a 10 foot broad jump and a 38 inch vertical leap while at Auburn’s summer football camp and you have a player that has the physical skills to be a difference maker on the next level.
Unable to put up big numbers as a receiver during his senior season after being called on to play wide receiver, running back, defensive back and even some quarterback, McClain is a player that hasn’t come close to reaching his potential at the position.
Very good friends with Elijah Stove and current players on the roster such as Tony Stevens, McClain said he’s just excited about being part of a close-knit program like Auburn.
"I just like that they are family-oriented," McClain said. "I've got family in Alabama near Auburn. I just think it's a great choice."
