Montgomery, Ala.--Lee High School safety Daniel Thomas got a late offer from the Auburn Tigers and never looked back, choosing Gus Malzahn's program on Monday over Clemson, Minnesota, North Carolina and Maryland. What seemed to be a tough choice for Thomas heading into the final week of recruiting suddenly became an easy decision to go with the in-statev school right up Interstate 85.
“It was nice, what I expected,” Thomas said of Auburn after visiting last weekend. “The people, support, coaches, all of them are family and it feels like home.”
On Thomas’s visit this past weekend he wasn’t sure if the Tigers would have a spot for him on Signing Day. When he received his opportunity to play for Head Coach Gus Malzahn he decided it was an offer he couldn’t refuse.
