Oxford, Ala.--Heading into the past weekend the Georgia Bulldogs were at the top of the list for talented linebacker prospect K.J. Britt, but following a pair of trips that’s no longer the case.
Taking a trip to Athens for the Georgia spring game was just part of a busy weekend for Britt as he finds his list jumbled once again after making a Sunday trip to the Plains to check out the Auburn Tigers.
“I had said that Georgia was my leader, but right now I don’t know,” Britt said. “I’m undecided right now.”
Returning home on Saturday, Britt said his visit to Auburn on Sunday came after the coaches invited him down to spend the day. Getting to sit down one-on-one with Coach Gus Malzahn as well as Rodney Garner, who recruits Oxford for the Tigers, Britt said the day went great.
“I just enjoyed it,” Britt said. “It was just about having a couple of meetings. It was real important to me and it was a bunch of one-on-one time. They expressed more and more how bad they want me and how bad they need me.”
Often times a prospect will have the chance to sit down with his future position coach or even a coordinator, but for the head coach to do that isn’t ordinary. Britt said that really stood out to him because Malzahn and wife Kristi made him feel welcome and that’s important to him.
“It was big,” Britt said. “I got to spend time with Coach Malzahn and his wife, too. It was just a bunch of family time and a great visit in all.”
That Auburn trip came on the heels of his visit to see Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs in action. Getting there just in time for kickoff, Britt said he got the opportunity to talk to the head coach while he was on campus.
“I got over there kind of late, right before they did kickoff,” Britt said. “When I got there they wanted to me to see Coach Smart. That made me feel pretty good and wanted.”
Still planning to make his decision on August 8th, Britt said with both Auburn and Georgia high on his list and several other schools still in the mix it’s not going to be easy to choose when the time comes.null
