A Class of 2017 Football Prospect Talks About His Interest in the Auburn Tigers

A tight end from IMG Academy updates his recruitment and interest in the Tigers after a Friday visit to the Plains.

Exactly a month after taking a previous visit to Auburn, tight end prospect Tre McKitty was back on the AU campus to spend time with Coach Gus Malzahn and his staff.

“It was a great, great visit,” McKitty told Inside the Auburn Tigers. “I had been here before so I didn’t really spend time on the tour. Instead, I got to sit down and talk to the coaches a lot one-on-one.

“They told me how badly they want me and told me how important of a player I am to them and they are going to continue to recruit me hard," he  said.

McKitty, a 6-4, 235-pound class of 2017 prospect, made the trip to Auburn on Friday with other teammates from IMG Academy, who are on a three-campus tour. Their first stop was the University of Florida on Thursday. On Saturday the prospects will check out the Florida State campus.

“Recruiting is going well right now,” McKitty said. “It has really escalated in the last month and is starting to go crazy now, but I am trying to take it slow and enjoy the process. Right now I don’t have any leaders.”

McKitty said that the academic factor will play a major role in his decision. One advantage that Auburn has on that front is that he is interested in AU’s aviation management program, which is what he wants to study in college.

“How I fit into the program is important, too," McKitty pointed out. “I want to go to a program where I can play right away.”

The prospect said he plans to take official visits in the fall and make his college choice sometime during his senior season.
