Bradenton, Fla.--One of the top wide receivers in the country for the 2018 class, athletic Brian Hightower was on the Auburn Tigers campus last week along with around 30 teammates from IMG Academy to get a look at the Tigers and spend time getting to know the coaches.
Already with an offer from Auburn along with dozen of other top programs around the country, the four-star said his first look at the Tigers and what they’re all about was a good one for him.
“I liked it a lot,” Hightower said. “I was expecting less, but it was actually a lot more than I thought it would be. It was great.”
Spending a lot of time getting to know the coaching staff, Hightower said his visit with new Auburn WR Coach Kodi Burns stood out to him in particular.
“He was a great coach,” Hightower said. “He’s someone I can really relate to and everything.”
In addition to sitting down with Burns, the upcoming junior said he also spent time with Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee. Getting to know him was another one of the reasons why the coaching staff was the main thing that stood out to Hightower he said. “
“He’s great,” Hightower said. “He’s the guy that offered me. He was the first coach to ever talk to me from Auburn.”
Planning to get back to Auburn either this summer or in the fall for a game, Hightower said the visit to Auburn definitely helped the Tigers in his eyes. With Florida, Alabama, Clemson and Ole Miss on his list of top schools, Hightower said Auburn can get into the mix.
“They can be a factor but I’m taking the recruiting process really slow right now,” Hightower said. “I think I fit in their offense well because I’m a big receiver.”
