Linebacker Prospect Tadarian Moultry Chooses Auburn

Four-star linebacker Tadarian Moultry made his announcement on Friday and said he will play college football at Auburn.

Birmingham, Ala.--One of the top linebacker prospects in the South, four-star Jackson-Olin standout Tadarian Moultry has made numerous trips to both Auburn and Alabama in the last four months. It came as no surprise on Friday when it came time for his decision he chose between those two schools, picking Gus Malzahn's Tigers as his future home over the Crimson Tide, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and several other programs.

"It's all about family," Moultry told Inside the Auburn Tigers. "I believe in Coach T-Will (Travis Williams)."He's a good man and he's true. He keeps it real.

"I just felt it in my heart," he added. "I just let God lead me to where I am now."

A physical defender who is just scratching the surface of his potential at the position, Moultry has had Auburn at or near the top of his list since first getting an offer from the Tigers. With his decision still very much up in the air, a late trip to the Plains pushed Malzahn's program over the top because of Moultry's strong bond with the coaching staff, including future position Coach Travis Williams.

For Auburn the commitment is an important one with linebacker a huge need area in the 2017 class for Williams. The Tigers are expected to sign four linebackers in the class so getting a player the quality of Moultry is a great start.

Rated as the No. 12 outside linebacker in the country by, the 6-2 1/2, 227 Moultry's family is a big part of the decision making process and when both his mom and girlfriend fell in love with Auburn on a recent visit that was a big bridge to cross for the Tigers. After that it was all about his comfort level with the program.

"What I like most is that the coaches are always around each other," Moultry said of what drew him to Auburn. "When I talk to one, another is around, that was big for my recruitment. I know when I need somebody they are there. They took a chance on me, offering first."

Moultry becomes the fourth commitment for the 2017 class for the Tigers, joining five-star offensive tackle Calvin Ashley, four-star athlete @Alaric Williams and four-star defensive back Carlito Gonzalez.

Moultry said that he doesn't plan to take official visits to other colleges and added he is done with recruiting.
