Due to heavy rain forecast on Friday for Nashville, the Auburn Tigers and Vanderbilt will play a split baseball doubleheader on Thursday with no game Friday and a single game on Saturday at Hawkins Field.
Thursday’s doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m. CDT while the second game is set for 6:30 p.m. CDT. The ballpark will be cleared before the second game. Tickets for Friday’s game will be good for the 2 p.m. game on Thursday, Vandy officials announced.
The Saturday regular season finale is still scheduled for 2 p.m. CDT.
Auburn, which is 8-19 in the SEC, is in 12th place in the SEC standings going into the final three games of the regular season. The Tigers are one game ahead of Tennessee and Arkansas in the standings and tied with Missouri, which owns the tiebreaker against Auburn by virtue of winning two of three games vs. AU.
Only 12 of the SEC's 14 teams qualify for next week's league postseason tournament in Hoover so the final three games have significance for Coach Butch Thompson's Tigers despite the team's record, which includes an overall mark of 23-30.
Vanderbilt, which is ranked 12th nationally, is 38-15 overall and 15-12 in SEC play this year.
All three games will be available on SECN+/WatchESPN.
