Bradenton, Fla.--One day after visiting Auburn for Big Cat Weekend, Scout 300 safety prospect Grant Delpit added an offer from the Tigers. Spending time getting to know the coaching staff and players while on his visit, Delpit said everything about the trip went well.
“It was great for my first time there,” Delpit said. “It was different. Big Cat was different and they do things differently there. I loved it.
“After the visit they’ll definitely be up there,” he added. “It will definitely shake things up. It was better than I expected.”
Recently transferring to IMG Academy out of Lamar High in Houston, Tex., Delpit has plenty of people to ask about when looking into Auburn, including teammates such as Tre McKitty and Jhamon Ausbon.
“They love Auburn,” Delpit said. “They are very high on Auburn. They like Auburn.”
Something that works in Auburn’s favor with Delpit is having Coach Wesley McGriff on campus and working with the defensive backs. With NFL experience and a vast knowledge of the game, McGriff knows his stuff and also brings with that a great personality said Delpit.
“He’s a great coach,” Delpit said. “He’s a static guy, full of energy. All of the coaches are full of energy and know what they’re talking about. I like the coaching staff a lot.”
Delpit said he reports back to IMG Academy later this month and is hoping to make another trip back to Auburn before he’s scheduled to be on campus.
"The Auburn offer is a big offer for me," Delpit said. "With it being in the SEC and me liking their coaching staff even with the little time I was there. I look forward to maybe bringing my parents with me sometime to visit."
