In 2014, following Auburn’s SEC Championship season, the coach’s deal was sweetened to $3.85 million per year with annual increases of $250,000 through Dec. 31, 2019.
The new deal has restructured rights fees numbers and duties for the coach with Fox Sports that he will be paid $2,112,500 per year. That is a change from the previous contract that started at $1,675,000 with annual increases of $125,000 per year.
The new contract obligates Malzahn to the following radio and television duties as well as promotional and fundraising duties for the university:
*12 appearances at AU sponsorship functions
*12 appearances at Tigers Unlimited fundraisers
*12 30-minute football shows
*12 hour-long radio call-in shows
*14 midweek call-in shows at a location to be determined by AU
*60-second halftime interviews for each game
*14 pre-taped interviews during football season
*60-minute TV show after each game
*One 15-minute pre-game radio show per game
*One 15-minute post-game radio show per game
Malzahn will be beginning his fourth season as Auburn’s head coach this season after spending one year as head coach at Arkansas State. Prior to that he was offensive coordinator at Auburn from 2009-2011.
