Auburn's Visit To Miami Made An Impact On Speed Rusher Guy Thomas

Auburn's staff took part in the Mecca Camp in Miami last Friday and it made an impact on speed rusher Guy Thomas.

Miami, Fla.--One of the top pass rushers in Florida for the 2017 class, speedy Guy Thomas teams up with 2018 Auburn commitment Robert Hicks to give Booker T. Washington a ferocious pair of edge rushers heading into the season.

Last Friday the duo had the opportunity work with much of Auburn’s coaching staff at the Mecca Camp in Miami. Working with the Tigers and trying to improve his game, Thomas said the day went very well.

“It was great,” Thomas said. “I got to work with the coaches and build those relationships. That might be a place I want to go in the future.”

With more than 100 prospects showing up on a Friday morning to take part in the camp, the Auburn staff made a strong impression on many of the guys in attendance. That was definitely the case with Thomas.

“That was great,” the 6-3, 205 Thomas said. “They showed they really want us, really want me and other players in the area. That’s wonderful.”

With offers from programs such as Alabama, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, and others, Thomas recently listed Louisville and Nebraska as his leaders. While the work with the Auburn staff may not have changed his list just yet, Thomas said it definitely gave him the need to see more from the Tigers.

“Right now I’m really trying to learn about the program,” Thomas said. “I’m really interested because it’s a winning program. I just want to build my relationship with the coaches.

“Most definitely later on this summer,” he added of potentially visiting Auburn. “Probably in July.”

As a junior Thomas was almost unstoppable for Booker T. with 54 tackles, 14 sacks and three forced fumbles.
