K.J. Britt Talks About His Weekend Visit to Auburn And Updates His Recruiting Status

K.J. Britt is an in-state linebacker prospect the Tigers and a variety of other teams would like to sign.

Oxford, Ala.--  K.J. Britt said he spent a fun “kick-back” Friday and Saturday in Auburn hanging out with the football coaches, players and several of Auburn's recruits he knows.

The linebacker prospect from Oxford High, who plans to have a decision on his college choice by August 6th, said that Coach Gus Malzahn’s Tigers are very much in the picture, but wouldn’t declare they are the favorite.

“I can’t really name a leader right now,” he said. “Everything has been picking up.”

Britt mentioned Stanford and Florida as others he is seriously looking at along with Georgia, and noted that Michigan is still in the picture. He might take a summer visit to LSU, but that is not definite.

Commenting on the Tigers, he said, “Auburn is there, they are always going to be there.”

Asked what he is looking for in a college, Britt said, “I want a place that feels like family and I want to know it is a decision that is going to make me happy, and one that I won’t regret,” he said.

He noted that he will probably be back in Auburn on July 23rd for a recruiting picnic weekend. Prior to that he is headed to the West Coast to participate in The Opening in Oregon, a prospect event that brings in highly-regarded high school football players from around the country.

K.J. Britt plays linebacker, a position the Tigers are focusing on for their 2017 recruiting class.

Other than choosing a college and trying to relax this summer, Britt said he is focusing on having a big finish as a senior at Oxford High before he enrolls at a college in January.

“I have got so many goals,” he said. “I know I am graduating early so I want to be the best I can be and do a good job of leading my team. I?also want to be the best student I can be.”

An honor student at Oxford High, he hasn’t decided what he wants to study in college. “I am thinking about  engineering or nursing,” he said.

While in Auburn he hung out with his friend and AU commitment, Tadarian Moultry, along with Chandler Wooten, an AU linebacker commitment from Georgia. That trio spent time with Auburn linebacker coach Travis Williams and current Tiger linebackers Richard McBryde, Deshaun Davis and Montavious Atkinson.

“They said join the family, but they understand and are not pressuring me,” Britt said. “They know I am chillin’ right now. I?am not in any rush.

“Right now I am just chillin and taking it day by day,” he added.
