Birmingham, Ala.--One of the most visible recruits on social media, Auburn four-star commitment Malcolm Askew from McAdory High School says he is excited about the future of the 2017 class for the Auburn Tigers and the direction of the program under Coach Gus Malzahn and his staff. Choosing Auburn over Clemson, Georgia, Ole Miss and dozens of others, Askew said for him it's all about that family feel with the Tigers.
"It has been great just building relationships with the coaches still and getting a feel for everybody, a feel for all of the commits," Askew said. "In a group message we talk all of the time on who our top guys are and who we want to go after. We lost one in Kellen Mond, but I feel like we're going to gain more. We've got some guys that are talking to us, saying they are coming. We feel like we've got great momentum with the class. It's just great being an Auburn Tiger right now."
Along with recruits like Calvin Ashley, Tadarian Moultry and Chandler Wooten, Askew has taken on the role of recruiter for the Tigers in this class. Always talking and pushing the #Ambush17 hashtag on Twitter, Auburn's calling card for this class, Askew said he's taking this part of his recruiting very serious.
"That was the plan going in once I committed," Askew said. "Coach Malzahn made sure I'm a key recruiter and that guy because I'm real active on social media and a lot of guys follow me and know what I'm up to. That was a big thing for me, just coming in and being a guy to recruit this class. I'm in everybody's ear trying to get them so that's been a big thing for me."
