LSU Game Date Set, Syracuse Adds Security

Auburn, Ala.--What was to be Auburn's SEC road opener will now be the final game on the regular season football schedule.

Auburn and Southeastern Conference officials announced on Monday that the Auburn at LSU game has been rescheduled for Saturday, Dec. 1st. The SEC Championship Game, which was originally scheduled for that date at the Georgia Dome, will be held at the same venue in Atlanta, but one week later.

No game time nor television coverage plans have been announced for the Auburn at LSU contest. The Vanderbilt at Ole Miss and Tennessee at Florida games scheduled for last week will also be played on Dec. 1st. Non-conference games that were scheduled for Sept. 15 will be rescheduled by the individual teams, the SEC announced.

Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville said on Monday, "It will be a little different playing LSU at the end of the season. But, last year, we played in the SEC Championship game two weeks after our last game so we have experience getting ready for another game. "

Auburn returns to action this Saturday night with a non-conference road trip to Syracuse. Kickoff time is 6:45 p.m. from the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y.

Tuberville has given the Tigers a day off from practice on Monday after going through a more than two-hour workout on Sunday.

Also on Monday, Syracuse officials announced increased security measures for games at the Carrier Dome. Small purses, radios, still cameras and seat cushions will be allowed in the arena, but there will be no large purses, backpacks, video cameras or other large items allowed. Also, fans cannot leave and re-enter the facility.
