Auburn, Ala.--With starter center Xavier Dampeer held out of action on Saturday against ULM, the Auburn Tigers had a different look on the offensive line with Austin Golson sliding inside to the position he played last season and Texas transfer Darius James getting his first start at left tackle. Seeing some good things from James, offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee said while he made some mistakes there were some positives as well.
"He did a good job," Lashlee said. "He was physical at times. He didn't have a lot of busts. He did a really nice job for us."
Dressed out on Saturday while dealing with a high ankle sprain, Dampeer is a player that Lashlee said they expect to see back this week. If he's unable to go however the offense should be in good shape after getting a chance to see what the second offensive group looked like on the field.
"We felt like Austin would play well, but to see Darius come in and do a solid job for us is only going to help us because seven games left," Lashlee said. "You're one play away anyone going down and you have to shuffle guys around. It was huge for Darius to get that experience."
