Auburn, Ala.--This weekend is another big game for the Auburn Tigers with Arkansas coming to Jordan-Hare Stadium and it’s another opportunity for Coach Gus Malzahn to showcase the program in front of top football prospects from across the country.
Expected to be in this weekend for official visits are a pair of big-time players from IMG Academy, the most talented prep team in the country. Currently committed to Oregon, athletic tight end Tre McKitty has been interested in Auburn for almost two years and getting him back on campus is a big step for the Tigers.
The same is true of teammate and four-star center Cesar Ruiz. Already with a strong bond with Coach Herb Hand, Auburn’s offensive line coach, Ruiz has Michigan, Florida and several other schools on his list. Signing him would add another piece to what it already a very strong offensive line class for the Tigers.
Heading the list of unofficial visitors expected in this weekend is five-star safety Devon Hunter from Indian River (Va.) High. Making several trips to the Plains since last spring, Hunter has a connection with Auburn DB Coach Wesley McGriff and already with three defensive back commitments in this class, he would be the cherry on top if Auburn could land him. Also a talented athlete, Lafayette High standout JaTarvious Whitlow is expected to back on campus as well.
JaTarvious Whitlow has had a monster senior season.
A position the Tigers are hoping to shore up in this class is at wide receiver. With Tony Stevens and Marcus Davis both seniors this year, Coach Kodi Burns is looking to add to what is a talented group of young receivers already on campus. Four-star Jeremiah Holloman is the biggest name of the group coming in on Saturday, but fellow four-star Noah Igbinoghene from Hewitt-Trussville and three-star Jaylond Adams from Minor are definitely names to keep an eye on.
Among the Auburn commitments expected to visit this weekend include Malcolm Askew from McAdory, Devan Barrett from Tampa Catholic, Tray Bishop from Dawson County, Ga., Tadarian Moultry from Jackson-Olin, Jordyn Peters from Muscle Shoals, Alaric Williams from Southside-Gadsden, Chandler Wooten from North Cobb, Ga., and 2018 quarterback commitment Joey Gatewood from Jacksonville, Fla.
Other talented underclassmen expected to be on campus are Delonte Evans from Minor, Marquez Ezzard from Stockbridge, Ga., Justin Fields from Harrison (Ga.) High, Jalil Irvin from Stone Mountain, Ga., wide receiver Shedrick Jackson from Hoover, Marcus Jenkins from Park Crossing, Will Lawrence from Memphis, Allen Love from Huffman, Bo Nix from Scottsboro, Kelvin Stokes from Stanhope-Elmore, and Clay Webb from Oxford.
Justin Fields is an impressive young QB prospect out of Georgia.
