Cornerback Traivon Leonard Flips to Auburn

The Auburn Tigers have added another football verbal commitment for their 2017 class.

West Palm Beach, Fla.--The Auburn Tigers picked up a football commitment on Monday from class of 2017 prospect Traivon Leonard, a three-star cornerback from Oxbridge Academy.

The 6-0, 170-pound prospect was previously committed to the University of North Carolina Tar Heels. He made that pledge to UNC on June 20th while attending a football camp in Chapel Hill. Prior to picking the Tar Heels he had committed in December of 2016 to Florida Atlantic University.

"I just want to start off by saying thank you to everyone who has walked with me through this whole recruiting process," Leonard said. "The past two months hasn't been easy for me. It took a lot of energy and thinking to come up with a final decision. This is a decision where I spent most of my hours at night thinking about, away from my school work.

"I want to announce my commitment to Auburn University," he said on Monday. "This is my final decision and I am 110 percent a War Damn Eagle."

Leonard is ranked as the No. 79 cornerback prospect nationally, No 30 in the South and No. 12 in the state of Florida.

He is the second commitment to the Tigers in recent days, joining quarterback Jarrett Stidham, a quarterback who is making the move to Auburn for the 2017 season after sitting out of football this past fall when he left Baylor after the Bears fired Coach Art Briles.
