Juco Lineman Matthew Tanner High On Auburn

Offensive guard Matthew Tanner talks about his official visit to Auburn and where things stand with him heading into the final week.

Jacksonville, Fla.--The Auburn Tigers are looking to add depth on the offensive line as they close out the 2017 class and one of the options there is big 6-7, 345 Matthew Tanner.

Taking his official visit over the weekend, Tanner said he likes everything about Auburn and has some thinking to do before possibly making a decision on Monday.

"It was great," Tanner said. "I had a great weekend. I enjoyed the players. It's a great place to be. I really had no complains or anything. I really enjoyed the facilities and just meeting everyone. It's a great place."

Spending time with Auburn OL Coach Herb Hand, Tanner said he got a good feel for what the Tigers are looking for on the offensive line and he feels like it would be a good situation for him.

"He was just telling me his need at the guard position and saying if I come there I could very well be an immediate impact," Tanner said of the message from Hand. "We just talked about the depth chart and how well I fit in.

"Coach Hand really likes the guys that are starting right now," he added. "It's very well I could be a second string guy, who knows."

Planning to choose between Auburn, Bowling Green and Mississippi State, Tanner said he's got some specific things in mind that he's looking for in his future home.

"Just how well I fit in somewhere," Tanner said. "Obviously this (Auburn) is a first-class place. Definitely it's one of my top schools for sure."
