Colorado Springs, Col.--An Under Armour All-American and the top kicker in the country on Scout, Anders Carlson signed with the Auburn Tigers on Wednesday, officially joining older brother Daniel Carlson on the Plains. Committing during the summer, he said having his recruiting out of the way means it's time to get to Auburn.
"It's a great feeling, signing that paper and making it official," Carlson said. "It's something you've thought about for a while now since being committed, and now it's happening. It's a special moment and one step closer to getting down there and getting ready."
Like his older brother, Anders Carlson has a very strong leg and that is evidenced by his 69 touchbacks in 79 kickoffs as a senior at The Classical Academy. Connecting on 13-23 field goals with seven of his misses coming from outside 55 yards, he’s shown the ability to connect from long range with a 51-yarder last fall.
Now he’ll have the opportunity to sit and learn from perhaps the nation’s top kicker, who just also happens to be his older brother. The Auburn signee said that’s something he’s very excited about and he can’t wait to get the season started.
“It’s going to be extremely special,” Anders Carlson said. “We have never been on the same team--this will be our first time. On top of that, just working with him every day will be great. Us being kickers, in high school it’s kind of hard being on the only kicker.
“Going to college and working with really good kickers, and one of them happening to be my brother, that’s even more special. I’m looking to get better and make him better each and every day. We’ll see how that goes, but I think it will be great.”
