Auburn, Ala.--It’s not often you get to add a two-time All-American to a football team, but that’s exactly what the Auburn Tigers will do with Jacksonville State center Casey Dunn expected to transfer to the Plains as a graduate and play for Gus Malzahn’s team in 2017.
A 6-3, 290 pounder that was named to five different All-American teams as a senior this past season, the Trussville, Ala., native was the anchor in the Gamecocks offensive line that paved the way for the top offense and rushing offense in the OVC. Jax State rolled up 434 yards per game, 250.6 per game on the ground.
Dunn is a player that could give the Tigers some options on the offensive line when he arrives on campus. Perhaps the biggest is making a run at the starting center job with Austin Golson. With Auburn losing right tackle Robert Leff as well as guard Alex Kozan, there were going to be some changes on the offensive line for the 2017 season.
If Dunn can come in and show he's capable of handling the center position it would allow Golson to make the move back to tackle, strengthening Auburn's search for its top five players up front on offense.
