2018 DL Kelvin Stokes Talks Auburn Visit, Upcoming Trips

2018 defensive lineman Kelvin Stokes talks about his trip to Auburn and his visit plans for the spring.

Millbrook, Ala.--Already with offers from Southern Miss and Troy early in his recruiting process, 2018 defensive end Kelvin Stokes from Stanhope-Elmore is a player that has plenty of potential to be a fast-riser in this upcoming class of in-state prospects.

At 6-4, 245, Stokes plays defensive end as well as some Jack (outside) linebacker for the Mustangs and when you throw in a 20 on the ACT that’s another big plus for the big defender.

Recently he was on the Auburn campus to check out the Tigers for a junior day and left impressed by what he saw. Spending time with the coaches and fellow recruits, he said it was a fun experience.

“It was very exciting,” Stokes said. “I loved being around the Auburn environment. It was great.”

Still waiting on an offer from Auburn, Stokes said the coaches told him they want to get a closer look at him during spring practices. Admitting it’s a big opportunity for him, he said the feedback he got from Auburn’s defensive coordinator was a positive.

“I talked with Coach (Kevin) Steele,” Stokes said. “He’s a very good coach. It was real fun. He just told me he liked my size, my ability and my skill.”

Already with visits under his belt to Alabama, Georgia Tech, Memphis with other visits set for Southern Miss, Troy and potentially Ole Miss as well, Stokes said he has no plans for an early decision and is just focusing on improving this spring on and off the field.

“I’m just going to control what I can control,” Stokes said. “Just play to the best of my ability.” Top Stories
