Auburn, Ala.--After battling a series of injuries and stuck behind a big group of players at quarterback, redshirt sophomore Tyler Queen announced on Tuesday that he's decided to transfer from Auburn in search of playing time.
"First off, I would like to thank the Auburn Family for their continued support through the good times and the bad times since the first day I stepped on campus. I'll always have a special place in my heart for the best fans in college football. I want to thank the coaches for the opportunity to be a student-athlete here at Auburn. Although I've had a great 2/12 years here, I feel like I haven't had the chance to show the kind of player I am capable of being. After a lot of prayer and discussion with my family I feel like it is time for me to transfer and explore other opportunities. I feel this is what is best for me and my family. I'll never forget the memories, great friends, and teammates/brothers I have made along the way. Thank you for the memories Auburn, War Eagle."
With Queen leaving the program and John Franklin expected to play more of a role as a wide receiver, that leaves Auburn with four quarterbacks this spring. Still recovering from a broken arm, Sean White isn't going through contact this spring. That leaves Jarrett Stidham, Woody Barrett and Malik Willis to get the bulk of the reps in spring practice.
Auburn returns to the practice field on Tuesday for the sixth practice of the spring.
