Warner Robins, Ga.--A four-star offensive tackle with offers from all over the country, big 6-5, 315 Christian Armstrong made a return trip to Auburn on Saturday to check out the Tigers and left impressed by what he saw from a scrimmage.
Focusing on the offense and offensive line in particular, Armstrong said he sees big things coming for Gus Malzahn’s program.
“I like Auburn,” Armstrong said. “They are moving in the direction as far as they’ll be a national power next year. That’s one thing I like about them.
“The offense as a whole, you saw more passing than you did last year. They still ran the ball pretty well. The offensive line did a good job of protecting the quarterback and in the run game too.”
Being recruited as a tackle by the Tigers, Armstrong is in the process of building a strong bond with Auburn OL Coach Herb Hand. He said so far things are going well in that department.
“Coach Hand is a real personable guy,” Armstrong said. “He talks to me like every day. That’s one thing I like about him.”
Planning to make a decision sometime before his senior season begins at Warner Robins, the 2018 prospect said at the moment Auburn is definitely one of the schools on his top list.
“I don’t have a leaderboard just yet but I really do like Auburn,” he said. “Also Florida State, Tennessee, Penn State, schools like that.”
Armstrong said he plans to get back to Auburn soon and is trying to make it for the A-Day Game on April 8.
