2018 Tight End Tyneil Hopper "Auburn Is A Great Place To Be"

Talented tight end Tyneil Hopper talks about his Saturday visit to check out the Auburn Tigers.

Roswell, Ga.--Teammates with Auburn freshman quarterback Malik Willis last season at Roswell and already with a strong bond with Coach Larry Porter, 2018 prospect Tyneil Hopper was back on the Plains on Saturday to check out the Tigers.

Getting to see the team in action during a scrimmage and also spend time with Willis and Porter, Hopper said overall it was a very good day after seeing the offense on Saturday.

“They want me to play everything,” Hopper said. “H-back, tight end and split out wide some. That would be a great fit for me, I believe, because those are things I like to do.

“Auburn is a great place to be. I really like being here. It’s nice, really cool.”

Because of his brother being at North Carolina, Hopper said the bond is a strong one with Porter and he’s been in constant contact since arriving at Auburn.

“Auburn is a great offer,” Hopper said. “I’ve known Coach Porter since he was at North Carolina. He watched me grow up and become who I am today. As soon as he got here, he started recruiting me hard. I really enjoyed that and I really enjoy talking to him. Coach Porter wants me to keep working. He’s going to keep recruiting me as hard as he can and wants me to come here.”

One of the standouts of the spring so far has been Willis at the quarterback position. Talented and athletic with a strong work ethic, Willis has fit in very well at Auburn so far and Hopper said the feeling is mutual.

“Malik loves it,” Hopper said. “He says it’s a great place to be, that the people treat you really good. And the food is good. He’s just enjoying the campus and enjoying football.”

Planning to make a decision either before his season or after his senior year, Hopper said at the moment he doesn’t have a top group of schools. All he knows right now is that Auburn will be among them when the time comes.

“Auburn is going to on my list later on down the road,” he said of when he puts out a top group. “I’m still looking around making sure I choose the right place.”
