Auburn, Ala.--A junior college forward who was at Ole Miss last weekend is expected to check out the Auburn basketball Tigers this weekend.
Malik Dunbar, a 6-6, 225-pounder sophomore at College of Central Florida, averaged 15.6 points and 6.4 rebounds this past season while shooting 49.4 percent from the field, including 29.3 percent on threes.
Also expected to visit is guard Peter Kiss, who is planning to transfer after playing this past season as a freshman at 6-5, 190 guard at Quinnipiac.
College of Central Florida’s head coach, Tim Ryan, said that Dunbar is attracting plenty of attention.
“He’s got about 20-25 offers right now, with most of those being low-major schools. He’s been offered throughout the year by South Florida, Auburn and Ole Miss. He also has an offer from Little Rock, and then he’s gotten a ton of interest from schools like Mississippi State, Texas, Memphis and others.”
Dunbar, who is originally from Columbia, S.C., was a Class AAAA All-State player at Spring Valley High School.
As a freshman in junior college Dunbar averaged 10.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
Kiss earned freshman all-league honors in this past season after averaging 13.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists. He shot 40.8 percent from the field and 27.7 percent on 130 three-point field goals.
As a high school senior Kiss played Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass. Kiss has visited Seton Hall and is also planning to visit Rutgers.
