Canton, Miss.--One of the top basketball big men in the 2018 recruiting class and already with offers from Alabama, Cincinnati, LSU, Ole Miss, UAB and others, 6-9, 230 Javian Fleming got some extra attention from the Auburn Tigers on Wednesday when Coach Bruce Pearl along with staff members Chuck Person, Harris Adler and Steven Pearl all made their way to Mississippi for an in-home visit.
Fleming noted it was good for him to continue to build a relationship with a staff he's gotten to know better over the course of the last year when he was a standout performer at one of Person's camps.
"The visit went good," Fleming told Inside the Auburn Tigers. "It meant a lot to me (that the whole staff visited). It was good to meet them and get to know them."
With very good hands and touch around the basket for a big man, Fleming has the skills to step out on the court and make plays away from the basket. Because of that skill set he said Auburn likes him in a position that would fit his game the best.
"They talked about playing me like a point forward at the four and letting me go to work," he said of Auburn's message to him.
Planning to return to Auburn for a team camp this coming summer, Fleming said at the moment he doesn't have any favorites among his list of schools but admits the Tigers "stand good right now" following his visit.
