Alabaster, Ala.--A player expected to be one of the top prospects in the state of Alabama for the 2019 football signee class visited Auburn's Big Cat Weekend.
Saying he had an enjoyable time at the event, Amari Kight hung out with Auburn’s coaches, including Herb Hand, who works with the offensive linemen. “Me and Coach Hand seem like we have a good connection.
“The visit was really good," Kight said of his day on the Plains, noting that he plans to return. “I liked the interaction with the coaches, being able to see the campus and all of that.”
Just 16 years old but already standing six-foot-seven and weighing 308 pounds as he heads into his junior season, Kight is a one sport athlete as an offensive tackle at Thompson High. He does it well enough that he has picked up early scholarship offers from Auburn and Mississippi State.
“I like the Auburn coaches and how they run a fast-paced offense, which is what we run at our school,” Kight says. “I feel like I?fit in better at Auburn.”
