Tucker, Ga.-- Michael Harris, Scout.com’s top-rated inside linebacker prospect in the state of Georgia, said he plans to make a decision on his college choice prior to his senior season and noted that Auburn is one of his favorites.
Auburn’s biggest competition looks to be Ohio State where Harris said that he plans to visit this weekend. Earlier this month he was on the Auburn campus for Big Cat Weekend and noted that he came away feeling good about the Tigers noting that his previous leader, Ohio State, is getting serious competition from the Tigers.
“Coach T-Will is a great guy,” Harris said about Travis Williams, who coaches linebackers at Auburn. “I like the energy he brings.
“I like the love I feel every time I talk to Coach Williams and Coach (Gus) Malzahn,” he added. “Me and Coach Williams have really bonded. I am always talking to him and we are always texting each other.”
Harris noted that he is looking forward to his first visit to Columbus to check out Coach Urban Meyer’s Ohio State program.
“Coach Myer always tells me he is my type of guy, the type of linebacker that he needs,” six-foot-three, 210-pound four-star prospect said.
The linebacker has also visited Georgia and Alabama and said those two programs are also under consideration although he noted the Tigers and Buckeyes are the leaders.
Harris transferred to Tucker High School earlier this year, a team that traditionally sends numerous prospects into the college ranks
“I came into the program in January and I see the coaches put a lot of hard work and dedication into it,” he said. “The drills we do are at a fast-pace with a lot of intensity. We are working at Tucker and I feel like being there I have become a better player.”
