Howard Allen, An Offensive Tackle Prospect, Was a Standout Performer at an Auburn Football Camp

Howard Allen has picked up a scholarship offer from the Auburn football Tigers.

Jacksonville, Fla.-- Howard Allen, a class of 2019 offensive tackle from Baldwin High School, has picked up a scholarship offer from the Auburn Tigers.

Allen was impressive at Auburn’s football camp on Friday with his quick feet, balance and all-around athletic ability.

“Coach (Herb) Hand told me I did a great job and he liked me,” the prospect said about Auburn’s offensive line coach.

A cousin of Auburn junior defensive end Jeff Holland, Allen notes that he is rather new to football. “I just started playing in ninth grade,” he says.

Prior to that his focus was on basketball, a sport he also plays for his high school team. The 17-year-old is a starter for both squads.

Standing 6-4 1/2 and weighing 300 pounds, he has been discovered by college coaches. In addition to his offer from Auburn he has ones from South Carolina, Southern Miss, Wake Forest and South Florida.

He is attracting interest from other colleges, including FSU, where he is attending a camp this weekend. He notes that he currently doesn’t have a favorite college team.

Allen says the camp experience at Auburn was a good one for him and he is glad he made the trip, noting that he is working on his “footwork and explosiveness” and it was helpful to train with Hand while competing with other prospects.
