Ciampi's Team To Sign Georgia Prep Star

A highly regarded high school senior plans to sign a basketball scholarship with Auburn in November.

Lawrenceville, Ga.--A standout player off of last year's Class AAAAA state championship Georgia girls basketball team says she will sign with the Tigers in November.

Future Tiger Dani Kubik

Dani Kubik, a 6-3 forward and center, told Inside the Auburn Tigers that she is picking Auburn over Alabama, BYU and other colleges. She averaged better than 14 points and seven rebounds per game as a junior for Collins Hill High School last season

Preseason workouts begin this week for her team, which posted a 30-3 mark for the 2000-2001 season. Kubik has started since she was a freshman in high school and is considered one of the top prospects in the South. She is also a standout AAU player for the Georgia Magic all-star team.

Mandisha Stevenson Kubik and another verbal commitment, sign-to-place 6-3 center Mandisha Stevenson from Gulf Coast Community College, are expected to significantly bolster Auburn's inside presence for the 2002-2003 season. Coach Joe Ciampi originally signed Stevenson out of Decatur as a senior when she was the top high school prospect in the state of Alabama. However, she did not qualify for freshman eligibility.

Kubik says she had a great official visit to Auburn for the weekend of the Florida game. "I really like the Auburn coaching staff and the people I met there. I think I will probably play the four (power forward) at Auburn. I am looking forward to attending Auburn and I am looking forward to playing SEC basketball."
